Confess your faults one to another and pray one for another that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent
prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16)
We purpose in our hearts to pray always with all prayers and supplication, making our requests made known
unto God for all. (Ephesians 6:18)
We willingly stand in the gap for those who cannot stand for themselves, including, but not limited to: those
battling sickness and affliction, the depressed, the hungry, the homeless, the widowed, the orphaned, the
incarcerated, the bound, the grieving, and the lost.
We stand united in spirit with our Pastor and the vision that God has given him. We touch and agree with
FBSCO leadership regarding the manifestation of God’s will for the ministries they lead. We pray together
on one accord that God’s will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. We believe through our prayers God will
bless this ministry, community, city, state, country, and the world. We will be Christ-like in our dealings with
others and the concerns brought to us for prayer.
We pray that the Spirit of the Lord rest upon all man, The Spirit of wisdom and understanding, The Spirit of
counsel and might, The Spirit of knowledge and of the
fear of the Lord. (Isaiah 11:2)
First Baptist Church Ministries
We have a number of ministries that support the mission of First Baptist Church. If you wish to join one of our ministries contact the Ministry Chairperson.

but one.”
Mark 10:6-8 (NIV)
"Beloved I wish above all that thou mayest prosper and be in good health". 3 John 1:2
The Health Ministry seeks to create a sound and nurturing health awareness
environment within our congregation. Our objective is to provide health-related
resources, foster optimal health practices, appropriate counseling, compassion
and spiritual support whenever we are called upon.
The mission of the Altar Counselor ministry is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and welcome new
members to First Baptist Church of South Orange. We will do this by following the commandment from
God as explained in Matthew 28:19-20 and Mark 16:15. We will also follow the "Romans Road of
Salvation": (Romans 3:10, 3:23, 5:12, 5:8, 6:23, 10:9-10, and 10:13). Jesus began and ended His
ministry with the command to be witnesses and fishers of men. His first words to His disciples; "Follow
Me and I will make you fishers of men" (Matt. 4:19). His last words to His disciples; " Go therefore and
make disciples of all the nations..." (Matt 28:19). This ministry recognizes the importance of a person's
early experiences in the Church and builds on the spiritual experience that empowered the process of
joining.

With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we seek to join our Pastor in ministry to turn
the world upside down for Christ, with our mission being: To strengthen the faith
of men everywhere through the praise and reverence of God, through the love
and support of one another and through witnessing to an unsaved world.
"He has made everything beautiful in its time." Ecclesiastes 3:11
The mission of the floral ministry each season is to remind us and heighten our
awareness of God's beautiful creations. This is done by attempting to have seasonal
floral arrangements and plants inside the sanctuary and on the outside of the church
property.
The mission of the hospitality ministry is to extend hospitality to everyone at all
times in the name of the God head Trinity and in the spirit of love according to the
command of 1 Peter 4:9 which states: Be hospitable to one another.
Missionary work is to do outreach by touching people in need at home, in the
communities, and the world. We will stretch our arms in the name of the Lord to
those who cry out for help to do the work of our Lord and Savior and to serve
God and to spread the word. First Baptist Church Missionary Outreach will join
hands with other missionaries around the world and be a blessing to those in
need of help in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What we do is to
please God not self.
Our mission is to be doorkeepers in the house of God, and guard the same at
all times during services. "For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I
had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents
of wickedness". Psalm 84:10

We seek to address the need(s) of mentoring and provide tutorial services for those
who need assistance. We also seek to empower our church and community through
the means of education. It affords us opportunities to invite each other to help raise a
child, empower an adult and create a leader. Thus, the idea is one of transformation.

The Lord promises us in Proverbs 22:6 that if we "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is
old he will not turn from it." This "way" is in Tribe of Judah is Jesus!
Middle School Group 678 for students in (6th-8th) grades. This ministry meets every 1st and 3rd Friday from 6pm to 7:30pm at First Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall. It's not easy being a Middle School student in the 21st century. Peer pressure, school work, busy schedules, and difficult decisions are enough to drive anyone crazy. Middle School 678 is the place where our students can cut loose and have a blast with other middle school students. It is an exciting mix of learning God's Word, relevant teen topic discussions, and games that help our Middle School students learn about Salvation-Hope-Integrity-Faith-Hope (SHIFT) in Jesus Christ. We invite all Middle School students to come and grow their faith with a ministry on the move.
High School Group 912 for students in (9th-12th) grades. This ministry meets every Friday night from 8pm to 9:30pm at First Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall downstairs. The Alternative is a weekly gathering just for high school students. Our goal at the Alternative is to build-up our high school students through learning about their Salvation-Hope-Integrity-Faith-Trust (SHIFT)in Jesus Christ. We seek to create an environment where High School students are comfortable in learning God's Word and uncovering God's plan and purpose for their lives. We invite all high school students to join us every Friday night at The Alternative.
