At First Baptist Church of South Orange, God has called us to be deliberate in how we do ministry. We remain faithful to and focused on the vision that God has given us. That vision includes a set of values—guiding themes that serve as our filter as we continually strive to point the way to Christ.
THE GOSPEL IS COMPELLING
The Gospel is the greatest news ever known. We will go out of our way to make it easy for our world to know God, as we live and point the way to Him.
SCRIPTURE IS THE BOTTOM LINE
God’s word is the foundation of our lives, giving us direction in everything we do. We focus on Bible teaching that we can apply to our lives and share with others, making what God has done for us relevant and accessible for all.
WORSHIP IS OUR LIFESTYLE
Hearts of gratitude are the natural response to changed lives. We have been changed and find our joy in magnifying Him through acts of worship and praise—daily celebrating who He is and what He has done.
GOD IS AT WORK
In our church, in our homes, in our careers, in our community and beyond—God is actively working to draw people to Him and to glorify Himself through our everyday lives. We live joyfully and expectantly looking for opportunities to impact the world around us for God.
TOGETHER IS BETTER
Growth God’s way takes place in community. We look for every opportunity to gather together—making Sunday and small groups our priority as we affirm and encourage one another in friendships that demonstrate the love of Christ.
SUCCESS IS MULTI-GENERATIONAL
Each generation is strengthened by the other. We know we are living the vision when we are passing down the legacy of faith with passion. We are committed to ministering to all ages—thinking beyond ourselves individually, supporting effective ministry, and pointing the way to Jesus for all people, in all stages of life.
